The new Jewelry from Petsamo collection celebrates the 70th anniversary (2019) of the settlement of the Skolt Sámi. Skolt Sámi women were among the first to wear earrings. This collection, which is based on a piece of jewellery used by a Skolt Sámi woman and found in the Suonikylä village in Petsamo, Lapland, brings forward the endangered Skolt culture. The face of the jewellery collection is Heidi Gauriloff , a young Skolt Sámi artist who learned the language of her family as an adult and is now making Skolt music, art and traditional handicrafts. The jewellery comes with a small story booklet that describes the history of the piece in Skolt Sámi, Northern Sámi and Inari Sámi in addition to Finnish and English.

Story:
This piece is based on jewellery originating in the Suonikylä village in Petsamo, Lapland. Skolt Sámi women were among the first to wear earrings. They wore earrings decorated with brightly coloured glass and silver beads, which they bought from traders coming from the east. The item, which returns to the Kalevala selection after two decades, celebrates the 70th anniversary (2019) of the settlement of the Skolt Sámi.
