The ultramodern silver jewellery designed by Paula Häiväoja looks just as futuristic today as it did over half a century ago. In the autumn of 2019, two silver rings that were designed by Paula Häiväoja in the 1960s will return to Kalevala’s selection. The rings are not only examples of the shapes characteristic of Häiväoja, but they also reflect the open-mindedness and faith in the future expressed by Finnish design in the 1960s. Material: silver

Paula Häiväoja (1929–2011) was Kalevala’s first female Head of Design. She graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki with a degree in art and design in 1953 and started as a designer at Kalevala three years later. Häiväoja worked as the Head of Design from 1963 to 1967, when she became a freelance designer and opened her own studio.
